As a successful and well known software developer with over 25 years experience, James Cook has built database applications for Macintosh and Windows. He specializes in Panorama, HTML and javascript.

Jim was among the first developers to integrate databases and web sites with the introduction of searchLynx in 1996. He builds custom applications for desktop use, for interactive web sites or a blend of both.

Jim also works co-operatively over the internet tutoring clients, who have a basic understanding of Panorama and enables them to build their own programming code and develop custom web site functions based on their needs.

Some examples of the many varied projects Jim has successfully developed:

HindSight Ltd. is a software company, founded by James Cook in 1985, building Panorama products oriented to professional photography. HindSight products built by Jim are InView & StockView, searchLynx and METAmachine. InView & StockView remain the preeminent software products for managing a professional photography business.

Utilizing Panorama, he built the systems for HindSight's web site support forums and the shopping cart through which photographers purchase software and receive email with serial numbers, etc.

Find A Photographer is a talent directory for photographers, and a completely self-running, web-based business built on Panorama. Along with external searches, it has an involved internal system for photographers to sign up and pay on line, then upload images and construct their listing. The system automatically sends email on a daily basis alerting subscribing photographers to any changing conditions on their account.

Jim works comfortably on contract projects involving businesses and subject matter without prior experience or knowledge of the field. His projects have included a tracking system for a radio carbon dating lab, a zoological encyclopedia, a golf statistics web site, a web based library of roofing materials, a project tracking system for a Google vendor and many others just as varied.

Roofing Materials Library contains tens of thousands of roofing products listed in all sorts of forms and displays. Using Panorama on the web server and extensive javascript, Jim created a process that allows roofers to easily locate detailed information on building products "within ten seconds".

From 1999 to 2007, Jim was contracted to develop a system for golf statistics involving millions of records from the 1800's to present, which needed to produce tables of scores in an instant. During those years this system functioned in a prominent role on the web sites of Sports Illustrated, CNN and Golf Online. The system also processed hourly news feeds to produce web pages bearing up to the moment golf news.

In a related project for the USGA, Jim produced the Official US Open Almanac on CD for four years.

Jim built several internal systems for a major Google vendor in Mountain View, California. Among the projects is a time card system for employees, who needed to clock in and out no matter where they are in the world. Jim competed a web based system for Google executives to review projects in progress and to monitor how the budget is being applied item by item.

The University of Colorado contracted Jim to put together a system for tracking samples through numerous tests in a radio-carbon-dating lab. An add-on was a species identification system oriented around osteology.
